Heat 1.

THE AFFAIRS:

The Affairs are a supergroup of musical masterminds that will take you on a journey of love, heartbreak, and everything in between. With their catchy riffs and holy harmonies, The Affairs are a band that will leave you humming their tunes for days..

EXIT SIGN:

Exit Sign is a trio of heavy psychedelic rockers who put space, distortion, and riffs at the musical center. They consist of Jay Alexander on freakishly distorted bass and vocals, Ruairi Brunt on over-overdriven guitar, and Kevin Khaleel on pots and pans with a snare..

STACKED:

Five piece melodic hardcore band consisting of mostly UoA students. We play high energy heavy music with bouncy choruses with twinkling guitar melodies and crushing breakdowns. If you're curious our EP Crushed by the Sky is on all streaming platforms.

THE GREGORISTS:

The Gregorists was freshly formed to perform and adapt to the modern music industry through their own styles. We have three guitaristas, two singistas, and one pianista. Overall, we are just fellow asians who are intimately in love with music.

WINNERS!

BULLET STAR:

Bullet STAR is a newly formed band that came together by fate through Dig the Gig 2023. We formed to pursue our passions through hitting, strumming, and screaming to get away from their stressful uni life. As of now, they are currently experimenting with their sound and genre but through each other, they have learned more about themselves both as individuals and together as a band and continue to inspire one another. Beabadoobee is an artist that has inspired them to make their music..

URBAN OASIS:

A group of four who play Indi Rock-ish music.

PSYCHO GAB:

Psycho Gab are weaving a silky smooth quilt of Neo-Soul and RnB music. Formed in early 2023, the Auckland-based 5-piece boast a tight ensemble of sugary keys, lush guitars, playful bass licks and driving drum grooves. With jazzy instrumentals flanking the powerful lead vocals of Rosetta Stone, Psycho Gab can guarantee a brain-tingling listening experience.

WINNERS!

MULL BRAIN:

Mull Brain are a lethal power quartet hailing from the depths of West Auckland. Drawing inspiration from anthemic choruses of indie rock giants and the raw emotional energy of post-hardcore; these four goons will be showcasing their ability to blow up the decibel meter with their magic.

Heat 3.

LOCALS ONLY:

YOOOOO are Locals Only, a self recorder indie rock band based in Auckland. "You wanna have a jam?" quickly turned into "Let's form a band" and the rest is history. Some of our inspirations for our sound are Spacey Jane, PARK RD, Sticky Fingers and Mako Road.

DILINO:

Mixed blend of pop and rap music , I’m my own band I perform alone and make my music alone! My music is catchy and addicting.

CYANIDE ALTAR:

We're a 4 piece doom/sludge metal band from Auckland with one goal: to make as much noise as humanly possible. We mainly write originals but we know when to chuck in a good cover or two when the crowd calls for it. With influences such as Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, Kyuss and more, you won't wanna miss the absolute mountain of riffage that is Cyanide Altar.

UNCOMMON STATE:

Uncommon State are a newly-formed experimental band, having mostly met at UoA halls in 2022. During this year, they wrote and recorded their self titled EP which was released in late December. Over the year they played a variety of gigs in the Coromandel, TGA, Raglan and more, as well as playing at NZ Spirit Festival and Resolution NYE Festival. Since then, they've made an exciting addition to their band in Tommy David on keys, bringing a whole new dimension to their sound.

WINNERS!

JACK BROWWICH:

Following the release of album ‘Take Flight’ at the start of the year, indie rocker Jack Bromwich and his band are ready to put on another vibrant set at Galatos. As a prolific songwriter and producer, Jack will be sharing some new songs on the night bound to turn some heads.
